Chicago Neighborhood Guide

Besides the neighborhood being mostly African American and Latin American, it looks pretty much the same. The New Tarkington School is hard to look at though. Although, it is an excellent green certified school, I still miss the days of the single level school. I learned how to ride my bike on the asphalt hill behind the school and was involved in many after school activities thoughout the 's when the building was used as a community rec center. Those days are gone but I hope that the new generation of kids have great memories as well.

I have lived in several states and have not run into the racial issues that seem to be inherited in Chicago. Perhaps after a few more generations, this occurrence will decrease. Reminds me of that article about the whites going back to Jeffrey Manor to see that not much had really changed except for the color of the residents' skin. Unfortunate, but a reality.
